Who makes up your family? Family has always been one of the biggest influences in my life. My immediate family includes my father, Richard Salmen, CEO of Family Investment Center; my stepmom, Mary Beth; my brother, RJ Salmen, who is also part of the Family Investment Center team; and my two stepbrothers, Dylan and Kiefer. Beyond my immediate family, I am incredibly grateful to the people I consider my chosen family. They have supported me through every stage of life, challenged me to grow, and helped shape the person I am today. Each of them has played a meaningful role in my journey, and I know they will continue to influence the person I strive to become.
What do you enjoy most about your work? Without a doubt, the people. Each conversation and every relationship remind me why I chose this profession. It is rewarding to know that the work we do has a real impact on the lives of our clients. Being part of a firm that genuinely puts people first and is committed to helping families achieve financial confidence and freedom makes coming to work every day meaningful.
What expertise do you bring to clients? I am currently pursuing a degree in Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University and will graduate in December of 2026. After completing my internship with Family Investment Center in the summer of 2026, I joined the team as an Assistant Advisor in our Lenexa office. As I continue to build my experience, I bring a fresh perspective, a strong commitment to learning, and a genuine passion for helping others understand their finances. My goal is to make financial planning approachable, helping clients feel informed, confident, and supported every step of the way.
What is your idea of personal freedom? To me, serious freedom means having the knowledge and confidence to make decisions without fear or uncertainty. There was a time when financial conversations felt overwhelming, and I often questioned whether I was making the right choices. As I’ve learned more about personal finance, I have realized that knowledge creates confidence, and confidence creates freedom. Having the ability to make informed decisions with clarity is empowering, and it is that same sense of confidence and freedom that I hope to help others achieve.
